Dear Nature Lovers,
Greetings from oikos !
Few orchids are very interesting with completely different flowering and foliage season. It is very difficult to spot flowering of such orchid as in Nervilia infundibulifolia, which is in bloom only for 10 days just at the arrival of monsoon. But leaves cannot be missed due to its peculiar design.
Regards,
Ketaki & Manasi.

Nervilia infundibulifolia (Scientific name)
This is a terrestrial orchid rarely seen in of Western Ghats or Kokan. It can be also called as ‘Jambhala tantu parna’ in Marathi. It is seen in understory leaf litter in semi evergreen forests. Height is maximum 5 inches during flowering or fruiting. Flowers appear towards end of May or to be specific just before monsoon. Leaves start appearing after flowering and just at the maturity of fruits. Leaves are very beautiful with dark violet bands along the veins.
