Dear Nature Lovers,
Greetings from oikos !
Nature needs BENIGN NEGLECT ! … Prakash Gole.
Benign neglect is a gentle ignorance favoring conservation.
We can’t live without
“Nature’s products” & “Natures ‘Services’”,
which are offered by ecosystems.
If we wish to cherish life ‘as human race’ for longer time,
we will have to maintain balance within natural systems.
Today in our fast and consumerist life style,
we simply neglect nature’s value and its capacity to regenerate.
So, obviously it is degrading very fast.
Due to this malignant negligence,
we are also spoiling the areas which are easy to conserve.
In India, we have almost 23 % of wastelands or barren lands,
wherein we can’t do agriculture or any human activity.
Imagine all those vast areas when we travel from one town to other,
they can be restored if at all those are offered ‘benign neglect’.
Benign neglect means neglect with care, a kind negligence.
Many times, we see areas teeming with biodiversity.
Just because there is absence of human induced pressure,
nature’s processes start working smoothly…
ultimately benefitting humans …
It’s only because ‘benign neglect’ is at work…
We need to keep on ‘neglecting’ … |
Regards,
Ketaki & Manasi.

Project work was also covered by ABP maza on occasion of World Environment Day, 5th June.
