Dear Nature Lovers,
Greetings from oikos !
Certain grass species are used in hybridization to develop domestic varieties.
Species like Sorghum deccanense are wild relatives of edible Jowar.
Such wild breeds form an important source for improving resistivity.
Its hardiness, marked resistivity for pests etc. are used.
This species is also used as fodder in certain areas.
So such wild breeds are important from conservation point of view.
Sorghum deccanense is commonly found along field edges.
And along sides of the smaller roads or muddy tracks.
It is found occasionally but almost in all districts of Maharashtra. |
Regards,
Ketaki & Manasi.
