Ukshi / Dhawsher Scientific name: Calycopteris floribunda Family: Combretaceae A perennial, shrubby climber, frequently found in moist deciduous forests & degraded patches in high rainfall areas like Kokan & Sahyadri. It grows in association with other vegetation, on trees in dense patches while, forms clusters in open areas. It has Yellowish green flowers in showy bunches during January – February. Fruits are papery Green - Pink with persistent calyx when raw, turning Yellow – Brown during May. Fruits are easily carried by wind. Medicinal Uses: Roots, leaves, twigs, flowers, fruits are used in various diseases as medicine. Cluster acts as anchoring places for fauna and flora to regenerate. |
